I've been a loyal Macromedia DevNet subscriber for a while now. I've encouraged others to subscribe. Today I got my third notice email about my DevNet subscription expiring. This one tells me that I only have 29 days remaining in my subscription. I'm torn about whether or not to renew it.
Macromedia says:
"You've got a lot to do. That's why you can't afford to let your Macromedia DevNet subscription expire. In 29 days you will no longer receive timesaving resources and upgrades to the development tools you use every day.
"Make sure you're equipped with another 12 months of software upgrades and DRKs delivering product resources. At only $US 599*, can you afford not to renew?

I've had advertising on this blog in the past. Heck, the Powell's links on the home page are technically advertising. The AdSense ads were clearly advertising. Sometimes my posts border on advertising. Site comments are not, nor have they ever been advertising. The legitimate ads on this site (Google, Powells, my posts) are fundamentally different from comment advertising. They are in place because I put them there. Furthermore they provide me with financial benefit or they are products I truly believe in supporting.
All this said I have deleted over 1000 comment spams in the past week and today I'm pleased to announce a Comment Advertising Policy to either compensate me or stop the ads. My site doesn't show comments until I approve them. This means that all the comment spamming in the world doesn't do a bit of good to the spammer, er advertiser. In order to solve what would be a problem for both me and the spammers I've instituted the following Comment Advertising Policy:

As you may or may not know Sarah and I moved to Springfield, MO in last Friday. We're renting a house in a nice older neighborhood near the mall. My biggest fear about moving to Springfield is that there isn't really any good barbecue. I took another carload of stuff down last weekend and tried to lessen my fears, by eating nothing but bbq for the weekend. Okay, not for breakfast, but bbq the rest of the time.
